Belfast born double Oscar nominated screenwriter and director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, In the Name of the Father) is to return to his home town in April to start shooting ‘Whole Lotta Sole’, a heist comedy starring US actor Brendan Fraser (The Mummy), and Irish actors Colm Meaney (Parked) and Martin McCann (Swansong: the Story of Occi Byrne, Killing Bono).
In the feature Jimbo, played by Martin McCann stages a robbery in a fish market in a bid to protect his family and to pay back gambling debts to the local mobster played by Brendan Fraser. However, the fish market is owned by the self same mobster and so Jimbo is forced to go on the run. Caught in a curio shop he holds an eclectic mix of people hostage including local man Maguire, who may well be his illegitimate father. Finding himself surrounded by police, Jimbo must try to escape with the help of his captives.
Produced by Generator Entertainment’s Mark Huffam (Killing Bono, Game of Thrones), ‘Whole Lotta Sole’s other cast members include Yaya Dacosta (The Kids are Alright, Ugly Betty) and David O'Hara (Braveheart, The Departed).
The film will shoot on location in Northern Ireland throughout April and May with the assistance of the Northern Ireland Screen Fund supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
