Ten projects have been shortlisted for the first round of the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards 2010. The projects were chosen from over 280 applications sent in to Filmbase in February of this year. The application deadline for the next round is Friday, June 25th.
The projects shortlisted are:
- ‘Birthday Wishes’ written by Oran Doyle
- ‘Disassembled’ written and to be directed by Darragh McKeon
- ‘Because It Is Bitter’ written and to be directed by Manus McManus (Thursday Afternoon)
- ‘The First Holy Confession of Lillie Mahony’ written by Sarah Maria Griffen and to be directed by David Tynan
- ‘Andrea Was Here’ written and to be directed by Tomas Seoighe
- ‘Anthony’ written and to be produced by Bill Tyson (Veronique)
- ‘Mind's Eye’ written by Eleanor McSherry and to be directed by Ivan McMahon (The Parting)
- ‘One Man and his Dog’ written and to be directed by Robert Ryan
- ‘Joy’ written and to be directed by Colm Quinn (No Regrets in the West)
- ‘Silent Night’ written and to be directed by James Phelan (Hotel Darklight)

The production teams behind each project will attend Filmbase for an interview later this month after which up to two awards will be made.
The award scheme, the longest running short film award scheme for filmmakers in Ireland, offers new and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to fund their short film. The prize includes a cash award of €10,000 towards the film production as well as a production package from Filmbase with up to 5 days of production equipment hire and 3 weeks of post-production hire.
The deadline for the June round of the award is fast approaching. Applications are now being accepted for the June round of the award and must be at Filmbase by 5pm on Friday 25th of June. For more details on the award and how to apply please visit filmbase.ie
