IFTA winning actor Colin Farrell (Ondine) has signed on to star in David Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’ alongside IFTA nominee and Oscar winner, Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose). The film will shoot in Toronto and New York in March of next year.
‘Cosmopolis’, the 13th novel by Don de Lillo, examines a day in the life of Eric Packer, a 28 year old multi-billionaire who takes a life-altering drive across midtown Manhattan in order to get a haircut. Through the course of the day, Parker loses enormous amounts of his client’s money by betting against the rise of the yen, a loss that parallels his own fall. Colin Farrell will play Eric alongside Marion Cotillard who will play Parker’s wife, Elise Schifrin.
The film is to be produced by David Cronenberg (A History of Violence, Eastern Promises) who has also written the screenplay. Paulo Branco (That Day) will also produce. ‘Cosmopolis’ will shoot in March 2011 in Toronto for seven weeks followed by a two week shoot in New York.
