New film ‘Adhlacóirí’ (Undertakers) will screen on TG4 on Wednesday, January 13th. ‘Adhlacóirí’ tells the story of those whose job it is to bury our loved ones and sometimes their own.
The hour long film is an intimate portrait of three men, from Dungarvan, Connemara and Donegal who are on call day and night to take care of our dead. Audiences will see the traditions at work in each part of the country, and find out what brought these men into this business and how it affects their own attitude to life and death.
Directed by Mac Dara Ó Curraidhín (An Charraig Staite), filmed by Rónán Fox (Studs, The Most Fertile Man in Ireland) and produced by Martha O’Neill (About Beauty) of Wildfire Films, ‘Adhlacóirí’ was funded by TG4, Bord Scannán na hÉireann and BAI Sound & Vision Fund. The project was shot in and around the Gaeltacht regions of Connemara, Donegal and Ring in Waterford.
‘Adhlacóirí’ will broadcast on Wednesday, January 13th at 9.30pm on TG4.
