Fans of the team behind the award-winning short film ‘Whatever Turns You On’ will tonight enjoy their latest offering, an 8-part drama series called ‘The House’ that will be broadcast on DCTV.
‘The House’ will feature, in the words of the producers; “Nasty bankers, apoplectic editors, online criminals and the dark side of the music business.” The series and each episode will be shown on Thursdays at 7pm starting today, September 3rd. The series will also be available online after each episode is aired on www.dctv.ie
‘The House’ follows four diverse central characters, whose interweaving plotlines involve murder, computer fraud, dodgy bankers, newspaper ethics, all offset by plenty of comic moments. Cast members include Jack Walsh (Killinaskully) as an eccentric homeless man called Dodo and Senator Eoghan Harris, who plays a newspaper editor with anger-management issues.
The script was co-written by Elaine Walsh (Fair City), along with producer Bill Tyson and director Declan Cassidy. Director of Photography for the series was Shane Tobin and editing of the series was carried out at the Timesnap studios. The series was shot in Dublin in places such as St. Anne’s park.
‘The House’ was shot using Sony EX1 high definition cameras and was produced for just €220k and producers say this low price is a result of “the latest digital technology that does away with the need for tape or film.” The series was largely funded by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) through the Sound & Vision scheme in partnership with high-tech training specialists FIT (Fastrack to IT), new Dublin community station DCTV and production company Timesnap Ltd.
