Windmill Lane Pictures have been busy in recent weeks with a number of different high profile projects including; work on the new Halifax advertisement campaign featuring Irish actor Colm Meaney; the launch of their new monthly newsletter Windmail and preparations for their move to Herbert Street in September.
The Halifax campaign, which began airing on our television screens in June, is a series of television commercials produced by Red Rage Films and post produced by Windmill Lane Pictures.
The creative concept for the “ad within an ad” came from advertising agency KD Nine, under the guidance of their Creative Manager Gary Lowe and Halifax Bank of Scotland’s new Marketing Director Mark Mohan. The idea was then brought to Red Rage Films where Brain O’Malley directed and Paul Holmes produced the actual project.
The shoot itself took three days at the beginning of May, one day of which was based in Ardmore Studios and two days in Dublin City Centre. The crew filmed on a number of different locations selected by locations manager Donnacha Brady and the campaign was shot on 35mm film. Commenting on the project, Producer Paul Holmes said: “What Red Rage achieved at the end of the process was bang on in relation to what we said we would do from the very beginning.”
The campaign which consists of 2x40” commercials set at the “making of” a TV commercial and 1x50” brand commercial based around Colm Meaney in Dublin City Centre, also included 6x10” tactical commercials as part of this campaign.
The commercial was post produced over a three week period at Windmill Lane, entirely in High Definition, including compositing, Baselight grading, 3D and 2D titles. The cinema version was also mastered to HD to provide a high quality pristine film print.
In other news, Windmill Lane is set to move to their new location on Herbert St. in September. The building, which has undergone massive redevelopment and upgrading since the beginning of this year is now nearing completion.
Windmill Lane have also launched their first ever monthly newsletter at the beginning of July. The e-version which people can sign up to receive (website@windmilllane.com) provides news on their recent and forthcoming projects, completed works and staff.
