Students Scoop Prizes At Smedias

Short Film of the Year and the Script of the Year were among the film and television categories to be presented at the 3 National Student Media Awards held in Dublin’s Mansion House on April 2nd.

The Short film of the year went to independent film maker Rouzbeh Rashidi, for his film ‘Now and Forever’; TV Production of the Year and Documentary as Gaeilge went to Caoimhin O'Cuinn, a 23 year old student from Carnarone, Inverin; while Short Animation of the year saw a 21 year old Eamonn O Neill from Arklow, take home the award for his project ‘My Day’. Mark Fischer, a first year undergraduate animation from Ballyfermot College of Further Education was awarded Irish Film Board Film’s Script of the Year award for his script ‘Gospel.’

Among guest presenters at the awards were actor Pat Shortt (Garage), ‘No Frontiers’ presenter Kathryn Thomas and ‘The Café’ presenter Aidan Power.
