The 6th Tony Doyle Bursary for New Writing is now open until November 30 to writers interested in forging a career in television writing.
The scheme, run by BBC Northern Ireland, aims to assist the development of new writing talent for television and to forge creative links between broadcasters and writers throughout Ireland.
Four chosen finalists will take part in a residential seminar where they will undergo intensive, structured, script sessions with members of BBC Northern Ireland Drama’s development team and top script writers and producers.
Industry experts have included John Yorke (Controller, Drama Production Studios), Ashley Pharoah (Life on Mars), Barbara Machin (Waking The Dead), Lizzie Mickery (Messiah), Adrian Hodges (Primeval), Ali White (Any Time Now) and Peter Norris (Between The Lines). The judging panel for this year’s entries will include Sally Doyle, Peter Norris, Lorcan Cranitch, Tina Kelleher, Liam Cunningham and Kate Rowland.
Previous winners of the £2,000 bursary award include Abbie Spallen (Pump Girl) and Martin McSweeney (Seacht).
