Filmbase and the Irish Film Archive at the IFI are hosting a retrospective of work by renowned Irish documentary filmmaker and archivist George Morrison. Best known for films Mise Éire (1959) and Saoirse? (1961), this retrospective has been developed to reintroduce audiences to his work.
It will combine a selection of screenings at the IFI of rarely seen films by Morrison, as well as an exhibition at Filmbase of a selection of photographic works and related items. Coinciding with the screening of a new documentary about George, Ciarín Scott's Waiting for the Light, at the Stranger than Fiction Festival, this is a timely opportunity for a celebration of the life and work of George Morrison.
An interview with George Morrison will be broadcast on The View on RTE One on Tuesday 23rd September.
The retrospective runs from September 24th to October 4th.
