The shortlist for the first ever Filmbase/Setanta Sports Short Documentary Award scheme has been confirmed. Ten projects based on the topics Charlton's Children, Horse Racing, Munster Rugby and Women in Sport have been shortlisted for interview.
They are:
'Gaels in Green' (Nemeton)
'Grassroots of the Sport of Kings' (Chaste Creative)
'Riders By The Sea' (Borderline Productions)
'Galloping To Nowhere' (Thin Ice Productions)
'Seeing Red, Feeling Blue' (True Films)
'Is Rugby in Munster really the people's game or just a brand?' (Hole in the Wall)
'Munster Rugby - The Reality Behind the Myth' (EO Teilifis)
'Riding High' (Underground Films)
'And in the Pink Corner' (SIMR Media Productions)
'Ais The Bash' (Phelim O'Brien).
Cash awards will be offered to up to three of these projects to make their short documentary. The completed short docs will be broadcast in January 2009 as part of Setanta Sports' new series Sports Matters.
The winners of the award will be announced in mid August.
