'Between The Canals', a new low budget feature from emerging writer/director Mark O’Connor, began filming initial shots last week on St. Patrick’s Day.
The crime/drama, set in Dublin’s north inner city over St. Patrick’s Day, follows three young men as they reluctantly become embroiled in illegal activity.
DOP Matt Skinner (who worked as focus puller on Moll Flanders and Widow’s Peak) shot footage on Super 16 on St. Patrick’s Day. The remainder of the film is scheduled to be shot during the summer months.
Actor Peter Coonan has landed the lead in the movie, with the remaining roles yet to be cast. An open casting call will take place in April, with Denise Deasy as casting director.
'Between The Canals' is an Avalon Films production, produced by Deirdre Barry of Monster Distributes.
