The Irish Film Board (IFB), in association with Filmbase, is set to present a panel event on low budget filmmaking and the IFB Completion Fund, on Friday 25th January 2008 at 2pm.
The event will look at international low budget successes such as the Irish film ‘Once’, which won at Sundance and has just received two Emmy nominations, and ‘The Blair Witch Project’.
The advantages and disadvantages of low budget filmmaking will be examined and the Irish Film Board’s Micro Budget and Low Budget schemes will be assessed along with the Catalystproject, a joint scheme supported by the IFB, BCI, Filmbase, the Arts Council, TV3 and Fás Screen Training Ireland.
The panel, which will be chaired by Mark Byrne (Business and Legal Executive, IFB) and will include Simon Perry (Chief Executive, IFB) and Alan Maher (Production Executive, IFB), will highlight previous projects which have benefited from the IFB’s Completion Funding.
Other topics under discussion include the requirements needed to access the Completion Fund and the errors and omissions to take into account when filmmaking on a low budget.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
The panel event will take place in Filmbase, Temple Bar on Friday 25th January at 2pm.
Admission is free, but those interested in attending should send their name, contact number and organization name (where relevant) to Clare Creely at Filmbase admin@filmbase.ie.
