Steph Green’s short film ‘New Boy’, produced by Tamara Anghie at Zanzibar Films, has scooped the Best Irish Short Film award at the recent Foyle Film Festival in Derry, and the Audience Award and a Special Mention at the Tirana Film Festival, Albania.
Funded by the Film Board and RTÉ as part of the Short Cuts scheme, ‘New Boy’ was shot on location in Dublin in February of this year. The eleven minute comedy drama is based on Roddy Doyle’s short story about a nine year old African Boy’s first day at school in Ireland.
These latest wins add to gongs received at the Dingle, Cork and Kerry Festivals and the film now embarks on a tour of the international film festival circuit.
“Steph and I are absolutely delighted with this win,” said Tamara Anghie, of the Foyle Festival win. “This is a great festival with a long tradition and it means a lot to win here.”
‘New Boy’ was edited by Lee Hickey with music by Len Arran, production design by Francis Taaffe and DOP PJ Dillon.
