‘The Morning News’, one of eight films produced through the UK Film Council and Northern Ireland Screen Digital Shorts Programme, is being screened in competition at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival. The film will screen in Program 112 on Sunday 16th September 2007 at 5.30pm.
The LA Shorts Film Festival claims to be the largest short film festival in the world, each year attracting over 15,000 moviegoers, filmmakers and entertainment executives.
The five-minute short tells the tale of a 70-year-old man who tries to demonstrate his love for wife on the eve of her death. It stars J J Murphy and Helena Bereen, and is written and directed by Louis McCullagh and produced by Chris Martin. The production was facilitated by Make Ireland and executively produced by Hugh McGrory.
