Following its success at last weekend’s Galway Film Fleadh, short film ‘Teeth’, written and co-directed by Ruairi O’Brien, is set to screen at ten different film festivals around the globe in the coming months.
‘Teeth’ was awarded the Tiernan McBride award for Best Irish Short at the Galway Film Fleadh, which took place from the 10th-15th July. Its next outing will be at the ‘Just for Laughs’ Festival in Montreal, running from the 12th -22nd July. The two minute short will then tour several international festivals including: Chateuu Chinon France (19th -22nd July) ;13th Palm Springs Int. Festival of Short Films, LA (23rd -29th Aug); Sao Paulo Int. Short Film Festival, Brazil (23rd Aug- 1 Sept); International Short Film Festival in Drama, Greece (16th -22nd Sept) and the Festival du Cinema Quebec, Canada (27th Oct – 1st Nov).
‘Teeth’, filmed in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, is a short “last laugh” tale of two old friends, their teeth and a series of events that leaves them lost for words. Directed by John Kennedy and Ruairi O’Brien, the dialogue-free film stars Ruairi’s dad Niall O’Brien as ‘Paddy’, and Niall Tobin as ‘Joe’. The film features an original score composed by Giles Packham.
‘Teeth’ is produced by Noreen Donohoe of Divamedia, and was funded by the Irish Film Board ‘Short Shorts’ scheme.
