Irish Bound For 2007 MIPTV

Over 20 Irish production and broadcast companies are set to attend the 2007 edition of the MIPTV festival (16th–20th April 2007) in Cannes next week bringing a range of Irish factual, drama, animation and digital output to the international market.

The MIPTV market is one of the world’s premier audiovisual and digital content exhibitions. Taking place in Cannes, France, this event plays a key role in the promotion and sales of Irish production and provides an important networking opportunity.

Irish delegates representing 24 Irish companies will be present at Enterprise Ireland’s ‘Ireland On Screen’ stand during the festival. Stand No: 02.30 Level 1 (Main Hall) T: 33 04 92 99 80 08

Ardmore Studios:
Ireland’s foremost feature film studio. Productions have ranged from feature films (King Arthur, Count of Monte Cristo, Laws of Attraction, Braveheart) to major television series (The Tudors, Ballykissangel) and music (U2, Westlife).

Big Mountain Productions:
Specialising in original format, drama and factual entertainment. New to Cannes 2007 is ‘Classic JAM’ a rock music based reality show and ‘Tiago and The Tunnel’ which is for sale thorough Big Mountain.

Brown Bag Films:
Oscar nominated Irish animation studio producing animation for an international market place. Brown Bag Films recently launched the HD pre school 26 X 5 min series Wobblyland for Nickelodeon UK and HIT Entertainment and a second series of their popular animated teenage soap Crap Rap for national broadcaster RTÉ.

Cartoon Saloon:
A multi-award winning animation and illustration design studio, currently employing 70 highly talented people at their new studios in central Kilkenny. Currently in production on their flagship feature film Brendan & The Secret Of Kells, directed by Tomm Moore. Other credits include ‘Skunk Fu!’.

Great Western Films:
Established by Eoin Holmes and Niamh Fagan in 2001. Recent productions include ‘The Last Furlong’ (2005) and ‘Trouble in Paradise’ (2006) both comedy drama’s for RTE.

Hells Kitchen International:
Hell's Kitchen International Ltd comprises Ireland's leading production companies – Hell's Kitchen Ltd (Jim Sheridan & Arthur Lappin) and Element Films (Ed Guiney & Andrew Lowe), who between them have produced 27 feature films, 15 television series and numerous documentaries over the past 20 years.

The Irish Film Board:
The Irish Film Board (IFB) is Ireland’s national film agency. The IFB supports and promotes the Irish film industry and the use of Ireland as a location for international production.

Kavaleer:
Since 2001 the company has delivered successfully in all areas from short films, both animated and live action, to advertising and online content.

Magma Films:
Independent production company developing and producing live-action T.V. movies, feature films, documentaries, comedy dramas, entertainment programming and animation series/features.

Molotov Digital:
Dublin-based technology company specialising in the consumer audio-visual sector of the technology industry. The company has developed a Peer-Assisted, Digital Media Content Management & Distribution System (CMDS) targeted at the Video on Demand marketplace.

Monster Animation and Design:
Specialise in the creation, design and production of digital 2D Animation for TV. Recent credits include TV Series ‘Fluffy Gardens’, ‘Managing the Universe’ and ‘Roobarb and Custard Too’. Award winning shorts include ‘Pilgrim’, ‘Dublin 1’ and ‘Not There Yet’.

Network Ireland Television:
The foremost independent television sales promotion and distribution company in Ireland. Its programme portfolio consists of over 1000 hours of TV and DVD material. New to MIPTV 2007 includes ‘Mission Employable’, ‘Belfast Zoo’, ‘Wild Trials Extinct’, ‘The Overseas Property Show’ and ‘The Celtic Tenors - Live in Concert’.

Screen Scene:
Established over 25 years ago Screen Scene is Ireland’s leading picture and sound post production facility. Recent credits include ‘Rough Diamond’ (World/BBC), ‘Northanger Abbey’ (ITV), ‘Mansfield Park’ (Company/ITV), ‘Kitchen’ (Ecosse/C5) and ‘Hide and Seek’ (Samson/RTE).

ShinAwiL Productions:
One of the largest independent production companies in Ireland. Producers of ‘You’re A Star’, the highest rating entertainment programme on RTE1 for the past 5 years.

Servecast:
A media and video streaming solutions provider, with a very strong pedigree in the sports and media sectors.

Soilsiú Films (formerly Vinegar Hill Productions):
Soilsiú Films are currently in production of ‘Dorn Lan Duil’ a 4x25’ documentary series for TG4/ILBF and are developing two major animation series - ‘Lost & Found’ for pre-school and ‘Noel’s Ark’ for adults.

Telegael Media Group:
Emmy winning production company of animation and live action series. Creators of ‘ToddWorld’, ‘Tutenstein’, ‘Pet Alien’ and currently developing live action projects for national & international television market including ‘Katie & Rookie’ - a 52 x 12 minute animated television series and the IFTA winning ‘Aifric’ a new 13 x 26 minute live action comedy drama series for young teenagers.

Tile Films:
Specalising in documentary and factual programming. Creators of ‘The Lost Gods’ and ‘Waterways’ series and HD feature length documentary ‘The Ghost of Duffy’s Cut’. Currently producing and developing 14 hours of HD documentaries.

Tyrone Productions:
Delivers high rating, successful productions across a variety of genres including drama, documentary and entertainment. Award winning productions include ‘Beckett on Film’, ‘Wanderlust’, ‘Ros na Rún’, ‘Open House’ and ‘In Search Of The Pope’s Children’ the recent Irish Film & Television Award winning series.

Video International:
Newly established label seeking rights for feature films, mini series and documentaries for video/DVD distribution for Ireland.

Vision Independent Productions:
Production company with a primary focus of creating original television formats with universal appeal. Currently developing new formats including ‘Take On The Takeaway’, for the BBC, featuring world famous chef, Gary Rhodes.

Wildwave:
Specialise in development, co-production, distribution and delivery of content for Digital Platforms: Mobile Phone, Apple iPod, Sony PSP, MS Zune, Google Video/YouTube, MySpace, IPTV, Skype TV and other emerging platforms.

Jam Media:
Animation studio that has developed a means of delivering broadcast animation over traditional and new media platforms. Creators of the IFTA winning childrens animation series ‘PICME’ and ‘Twisted Tales’.

In addition, Irish broadcaster RTE will have a stand next to the Ireland on Screen Stand. Also, Irish distribution outfit Monster Distributes will attend MIPTV with a number of international animation series in its catalogue including new acquisitions ‘Paws and Tales’ - a 13 x half hour animated series from Canadian producer Providential Pictures, inspired by Chuck Swindoll’s bestselling children’s book Paw Paw Chuck’s Big Ideas in the Bible, a Chirstmas Special ‘Stardust: 45 Minutes Below Zero’ and ‘Haunted Hogmany’ - a 1 x half hour, where two unlikely friends set out on New Year’s Eve for an investigation into the supernatural activity of the streets buried underneath Edinburgh’s Old Town. www.miptv.com
