Rising Irish actress Antonia Campbell Hughes has landed a role alongside Jennifer Saunders and Miranda Richardson in the new BBC comedy series ‘The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle’.
The seven part comedy series is described as a female version of America’s ‘The Larry Sanders Show’. The talk show sendup will see popular Brit comedienne Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) as the show’s host, Vivienne Vyle, and Irish actress Antonia Campbell Hughes will play the character of Vivienne’s PA in the series. Actress Miranda Richardson (Wah-Wah, Puffball) is co-starring as the talk show’s producer Helena.
The series is a BBC/BBC America/Saunders and French co-production, exec produced by Jon Plowman (The Office) and is scheduled for broadcast in Summer 2007 .
This continues a busy period for Antonia, who is best known for her part alongside Jack Dee in the BBC sitcom ‘Lead Balloon’. She recently wrapped filming on Aisling Walsh’s RTE drama ‘Flesh and Blood’ and has also won a part in the Channel 4/IMC Media production of ‘Scapegoat’ for up-and-coming director Gabrielle Russell.
Northern Ireland born Antonia is also a trained fashion designer who has designed a line for high street store Top Shop. She also appeared in the TV series ‘Blackbeard’, ‘Imagining Ulysses’ and the feature films ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘3 Crosses’.
