And the Redman Went Green |
Irish writer/director Ruth Meehan has been presented with the DepicT! '06 Award for her short film 'And the Redman Went Green' at the Encounters Short Film Festival in the UK.
The DepicT! short film competition is designed to challenge filmmakers from around the world to make mini-masterpieces of under 90 seconds. Meehan’s short was selected as the winner from over 370 entries.
Award winning Irish director and Encounters Festival patron Damien O’Donnell presented the Awards on Saturday night in Bristol. Ruth Meehan picked up a £2,000 each cash prize and 1-year membership to LOVEFiLM.com
‘And the Redman Went Green’ is produced by UK based BreakThru Films and has previously won top awards at Tehran, Canal + and Houston. ‘And the Redman went Green’ also took home 2nd place in the DepicT Audience award category. The 90 second film is about an old woman's world which is turned upside down at a pedestrian crossing as she negotiates the hectic streets of London.
