‘Home’ a new documentary film from Irish writer/producer Alan Cooke will screen this weekend at the IFI. The film follows Cooke’s journey in post 9/11 New York as an Irish immigrant.
Cooke, a stage and film actor, shot the film on location in New York during 2005. Co-produced and directed by Dawn Scibilia, the film features Dubliner Cooke exploring themes of nostalgia and the concept of home.
Included are a number of interviews with immigrants and native New Yorkers including Woody Allen, Liam Neeson, Frank and Malachy McCourt, Alfred Molina, Mike Myers, Rosie Perez, Colin Quinn and Susan Sarandon. Irish director Jim Sheridan commented that the film “beautifully captures the Irish immigrants journey through the myth and mystery of New York.”
‘Home’ has previously screened at the Lincoln Centre, New York and won the Best Documentary Award in Boston Irish Film Festival.
The event on at the IFI is a private preview screening, which takes place on Saturday 24th March at 11:30am. The producers are still seeking distriution. Admission is free but tickets are available on request only. Those interested in attending the screening should email homethemovie@gmail.com.
