Colin Farrell (Miami Vice), Brendan Gleeson (The General) and Ralph Fiennes (The Constant Gardner) are among the stellar cast named for Irish writer/director Martin McDonagh’s feature directorial debut ‘In Bruges’.
Black comedy ‘In Burges’ is written by McDonagh and follows a pair of hitmen (Farrell and Gleeson) who lie low in Bruges after a completing a complicated job. As the duo encounter the locals, tourists, and a film shoot, their views on life and death change. Supporting cast includes French actress Clemence Poesy (Gunpowder, Treason & Plot) and Belgian actor Jeremie Renier.
The film begins production in Bruges, Belgium next month.
McDonagh is a Tony and Olivier Award winning playwright. He picked up the Best Live Action Short Oscar in 2006 for his acclaimed film ‘Six Shooter’ which also starred Brendan Gleeson.
‘In Bruges’ is to be funded by Focus Features and Film4. Graham Broadbent (Becoming Jane, Millions) and Pete Czernin of Blueprint Pictures are producing.
