  Colette Fitzpatrick
Colette Fitzpatrick has been named the new TV3 news anchor to join Alan Cantwell on their flagship daily news bulletins. Former anchor Claire Byrne is to take up a new post on radio at Newstalk 106.

32 year old Colette has extensive broadcasting experience having worked in the TV3 newsroom since 2001. She has edited and anchored bulletins for the morning news programme, Ireland AM, and has also been the regular stand-in as main presenter on the early morning show alongside Mark Cagney, Alan Hughes and Aidan Cooney, in addition to co-anchor on evening news bulletins with Alan Cantwell.

Fitzpatrick said: “I'm thrilled about my new role in TV3. I've filled in as evening news anchor alongside Alan many times over the previous five years and feel I know the job inside out. I can't wait to begin on a permanent basis and of course, no more early starts is a bonus!”

TV3 daily news attracts over half a million viewers every day and is one of the most watched programmes in the TV3 schedule. Fitzpatrick has some big boots to fill as popular outgoing anchor Claire Byrne was voted the TV Personality of the Year in 2004 by the Irish public at the annual Irish Film and Television Awards.
