Ken Loach’s Palme d'Or winning Irish civil war drama ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ has been named as one of ten feature film nominations for the 2006 Hollywood World Awards.
Ken Loach’s ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ will compete against nine other international titles including Stephen Frears' ‘The Queen’, Andrea Arnold’s ‘Red Road’, Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘El Laberinto Del Fauno’ (Pan's Labyrinth) and Pedro Almodovar’s ‘Volver’.
Now in its third year, a panel of international judges will decide on the award winning feature. The co-chairs of the judging panel are Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards co-chair Paula Wagner and executive director Carlos de Abreu and Screen US editor Mike Goodridge. The Hollywood World Award is presented in association with Screen International.
Previous winners of the award include ‘Mrs. Henderson Presents’ by Stephen Frears, ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’ by Walter Salles and ‘The Sea Inside’ by Alejandro Amenabar.
