Brit company MJZ picked up the top International Grand Prix Award at the 44th Shark Awards Festival in Kinsale, for the Fallon commercial
Sony Bravia 'Balls'.
In the international categories, MJZ, who won a slew of awards on the night, also picked up the Palme D'Or for best production company and the World Winner TV Award. Other major winners included Saatchi's 'Love' for Smirnoff, AMV's 'Noitulove', Leo Burnett's Chicago Altoids campaign, BBH Lynx, BETC Euro RSCG's March of the Emperors for Canal+, DDB Chicago for Budwieser and Wieden+Kennedy's Choir for Honda. Chris Cairns of Partizan won the New Director's Award, Aritsen Zowder of Duval Guillaume Brussells won the TV Baby Shark and Publicis won the Viral Category.
In the Irish television categories, winners included Red Rage and Zanita Films, who were the most successful of the Irish production companies, receiving four and two awards respectively. Top awards also went to Irish post production companies Piranha Bar and Screen Scene. The former picking up the Best Editing Shark for the Heineken Green Energy Festival ‘Music Bus’ promo and the latter winning for Best Post Production/Special Effects for their work on the Amstel ‘Troy’ advert.
The festival ran in the seaside town of Kinsale from 7th to 9th September. Special guests in town for the festival weekend included ‘Simpson's’ producer Mike Scully, Irish director John Moore (Flight of the Phoenix, Omen 666) and John Hegarty who headlined the Advertising Forum.
