FÁS Screen Training Ireland are still accepting applications for their forthcoming Market Analysis Seminar in Dublin on the 7th of July. Tutors include; Sue Bruce–Smith (Film Four); Eve Gabereau (Soda Pictures); Susan Newman-Baudais (European Audiovisual Observatory); Niamh McCaul (Eclipse Pictures) and Andrew Brown (Intandem Films).
The Market Analysis Seminar has been designed by devised for film production company principals and their development personnel. The one day session will be chaired by Film Four’s Sue Bruce-Smith and aims to equip the participants in developing skills for analysing trends, reading the market and positioning films.
Participants will explore the following areas:
• Positioning your film - genre/ commercial or arthouse
• Target Demographics
• Timing the release date - holidays, other competitive releases, availability of screens, film festivals
• Setting the P & A
• Publicity, promos
• Identifying marketing hooks
• Market research/test screenings
• Looking at box office achieved by similar films
• Influencing factors
