The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr John O'Donoghue TD, has established a Special Committee on the Traditional Arts. This is the first such Committee to be created under the provisions of the Arts Act, 2003. The Special Committee is charged with reviewing the structures, supports and policy for the Traditional Arts and making recommendations for the future development of this sector. The Committee will deliver its advice to the Arts Council by 1 September 2004.
The Committee now invites submissions from interested parties to inform its deliberations.
Parties interested in making submissions to the Committee should do so in writing before 5.30pm on Friday, 5 March 2004. Submissions must be typed and can be submitted in either of the following ways:
