The acclaimed new musical ‘On Eagle’s Wing’, written and composed by Belfast’s John Anderson, is being launched by Irish distribution company, Network Ireland Television, at the MIPCOM TV market in Cannes next month.
The televised special is a new stage spectacular, a musical, a dance show and an oratorio all rolled into one. Filmed on the vast stage of Belfast’s Odyssey Arena in Northern Ireland, with a production budget of Stg£1.3 Million, this exciting new work tells the story of the Scots-Irish - their humble beginnings in the Lowlands of Scotland in the late 1600’s, their flight from persecution by the English, their arrival in Ireland and their continuing journey to the New World in the 1700s, where these pioneers first opened up the American frontier.
This epic story is brought to life through the stage presence of Peter Corry, a well known West End stage performer, who takes the lead role in this engrossing show and Alyth McCormack, one of Scotland’s finest traditional singers. Their performances together with explosive dance routines and rousing music from the combined 500 member cast of choristers, pipers, drummers and the marvellous musicians in the orchestra, ensures that ‘On Eagle’s Wing’ delivers on every front.
