Star Wars, Jurassic Park visual effects creator to speak at major audio-visual conference in Galway.
Jim Morris, President, Lucas Digital and Industrial Light and Magic, the largest and most advanced digital effects company in the world will be in Galway next week to take part in 'The Big Picture 2'. The conference, organised by Enterprise Ireland, is designed to help members of Ireland's TV, Film and Multimedia industry take advantage of the new opportunities presented by digital technology and Internet development.
Turnover in the sector is currently running at £120 million per annum and is projected to grow to £500 million per annum over the next three years.
Information technology and audiovisual sector experts, independent producers, public funding agencies, private financiers, content providers and film and television critics will gather in Galway with Arts Minister Sile de Valera on Thursday and Friday December 2nd and 3rd next, at The Clarinbridge Court Hotel outside Galway city.
According to Brendan Jennings, Development Advisor with Enterprise Ireland, this year's conference ''will focus on issues industry tells us are relevant to their needs including access to finance, strategy development, and technological change occurring in the industry. The purpose of the conference', he says is to advise new and expanding companies where to position themselves in this dynamic marketplace so that they can become truly global players in this buoyant market. Enterprise Ireland recognises the growth potential of this sector and is actively encouraging companies to capitalise on it."
A lively exhibition area and screening room will provide delegates with continuous access to the latest products, services and techniques available to the industry.
