'Ella Enchanted' Leads The Production Schedule For Rest of 2002

‘Ella Enchanted’, the new Miramax production (part of their ‘Teddy Projects’ for a young audience) starts shooting on 26th August at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow, and on location.
‘Ella Enchanted’, the new Miramax production (part of their ‘Teddy Projects’ for a young audience) starts shooting on 26th August at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow, and on location. The film, with a budget of c$35m, stars Anne Hathaway (The Princess Bride) as Ella of Frell, and Hugh Dancy (David Copperfield) as Prince Charmont. The film is directed by Tommy O’Haver (Get Over It), and produced by Momentum Partners, Jane Startz Production, with Irish co-producers Morgan O’Sullivan and James Flynn of World 2000. The production was due to start at the beginning of 2002, but was pushed back six months.

Irish crew include Production Manager Mary Alleguen (just finished Chasing the Dragon, and Reign of Fire (also with World 2000), Louis Conroy (Gaffer) and Manus Hingerty (Locations Manager).

Other productions scheduled for 2002 in Ireland are 'Dead Bodies', Distinguished Features digital feature, due to start filming on September 1, ‘Intermission’, which is being produced by Alan Maloney of Parallel Productions for Steve Woolley’s and Neil Jordan’s Company of Wolves. The film, to star Colm Meaney and Colin Farrell, is now scheduled for an early September start. The film is written by Mark O’Rowe. Parallel’s tv drama series ‘The Clinic’ is in the ‘earliest stages of development’ and is currently scheduled for 2003. Ferndale’s ‘My Boy’, the story of Philomena Lynott and her son Phil, is on hold, pending full finance of the project.

Samson Films are shooting a DV feature on location in Dublin and Northern Ireland in Setpember, entitled ‘The Honeymooners’ written by Carl Golden (Beached). They are also currently developing ‘Watermelon’ a feature based on a Miriam Keyes novel, adapted for the screen by Colin Bateman. Octagon Films, the development company of World 2000 and Metropolitan Films’ are looking at a Spring 2003 shoot date for ‘Tristan and Isolde’ to be directed by Kevin Reynolds (The Count of Monte Cristo).

For TV, Little Bird / Wildacre's ‘On Home Ground’ second series in currently posting, and the long-awaited second series script for ‘Bachelors’ Walk’ is progressing well. Coco TV’s Treasure Island has two weeks of posting left for it’s three shows, the Lyrics Board (Like It Love It) is currently shooting in RTE, as is Setanta’s ‘At The End of The Day’, which starts 29th July on RTE, and is currently being shot and edited (by Highwire). ‘Ask Anna’, StopWatch TV’s agony aunt show, is in production, as is Frontier Films ‘No Frontiers’. Other shows for the Autumn schedule include Agtel’s ‘Ear to the Ground’, and Mind The Gap’s ‘Hands On’.
