'Watermelon' Starts Four Week Shoot

'Watermelon', the feature based on the Marion Keyes book and adapted by Colin Bateman, has started filming in Dublin for four weeks.

Kieran J. Walsh (When Brendan Met Trudy) is directing, and stars include Anna Friel and Brenda Fricker. Production Manager is Ger Daly. Emer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh, who last worked with Samson on 'The Most Fertile Man in Ireland' is costume designer, and John Hand is production designer. Cine Electric are providing lighting/generators. Budget is Euro 2.4million.

The film is co-produced by Samson Films in Dublin, Granada in UK, TV3 (Watermelon is the fifth feature that TV3 has participated in, other titles are Bloody Sunday, Mapmaker, The Honeymooners (also Samson) and Halo Effect (due to start filming this month) and the Irish Film Board.
