‘Headrush’ is the title of Shimmy Marcus’ upcoming feature which starting shooting on 15 November. The film, written and directed by Marcus, is one of the features which has received support from the Irish Film Board through it’s Low Budget incentive, launched at Galway in July.
‘Headrush’ is a contemporary story, a ‘black caper crime comedy’, according to Marcus, which will be filmed primarily on location in Dublin city and Rathmines, with three days shooting in Amsterdam, and a small amount of studio based work. The shoot is scheduled for a total of 5 weeks.
Funding for the project has come from the Film Board as main funder, as well as co-production deals with Dutch and UK companies – Ijswater in Holland, and Ipso Facto in UK. Additional funding has been received through the Rotterdam Film Fund, presales in UK through MPS, a distribution deal with Paradiso in Holland, and sale and leaseback in UK. The sales agent is Media Luna, based in Cologne, Germany. Zanzibar’s Edwina Forkin is Producer, and Christine and Marc Bary and the UK and Dutch co-producers. Facilities companies confirmed to date include Cine Electric, Panavision and The Farm. The film will be shot on HD.
The three principles in the film are Laura Pyper, MC Wuzza and Gavin Kelty. Other cast confirmed include BP Fallon, Gary Lewis, Tom Hickey, John Kavanagh and Maureen Potter. Full cast and crew lists are below;
