For its adventurousness, vibrancy, believable characterisation and thorough engagement with its subject matter. The film struck the perfect balance of humour and poignancy in this uplifting tale of the trials and uncertainties of a middle aged woman who fears her time may have passed.

HUMAN RADIO (Dir. Miranda Pennell, England)
For its particularly evocative use of sound & visuals, which it uses to transcend the apparently drab, exterior lives of its protagonists to reveal their interior individuality and spirit.

Claire Lynch Award for Best Short by a First Time Irish Director
AREA 51 (Dir. Carl Collins)
By cleverly mixing live action and Computer Generated Imagery, this film ably demonstrates that budget limitations are no match for wit and imagination.
