‘Felicity’ star Keri Russell will appear alongside Golden Globe winning Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point) in Kirsten Sheridan’s forthcoming feature ‘August Rush’.
Russel and Rhys Meyers will join the already confirmed cast, Freddie Highmore (Finding
|
Neverland, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) and Robin Williams (Mrs. Doubtfire, Insomnia), in the children’s fantasy love story.
Highmore plays a gifted musical prodigy called August, who is mentored by a wizard played by Williams. August has been separated from his parents (Russel & Meyers) for ten years and the film follows a musical journey to unite the extraordinary family.
This is Irish director Sheridan’s second outing at the helm of a feature film following her debut in 2001 with the acclaimed ‘Disco Pigs’ starring Cillian Murphy.
The film is being produced for Warner Bros Pictures with Southpaw Entertainment’s Richard B.Lewis producing. Kirsten Sheridan, Jim Hart and Nick Castle (Hook) are credited as screenwriters.
Russel and Rhys Meyers have previously worked together on the third installment of the ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise releasing later this year. ‘August Rush’ is scheduled to begin shooting in New York on February 13th.
