The 44th Shark Awards - the International Advertising Festival of Ireland (7 – 9 September) will return to the seaside town of Kinsale for the 2006 edition following last years hiatus in Ennis.
In an announcement from Shark chairman Donald Helme, he forecasts “a strong response from the advertising and production communities in both entries and delegates… and we aim to have the strongest ever event, re-establishing the Kinsale legend.”
In addition to the Autumn festival, the Shark programme kicks off in Spring with a band of top creative educators coming to Dublin for events that will set the scene for the September roll out.
Helme also announced the appointment of; Kathryn McDonagh (Owens DDB), Shane McGonigle (Leo Burnett), Anne Marie Curran (Russell Avis) and Margaret Levingstone (Cawley NeaTBWA) to the Festival management table.
In 2005, a Sharks Emeritus Board was established with its first honourees being Dan Wieden, CEO of Wieden & Kennedy; Matthew Bull, Worldwide Creative Director of Lowe; John Hegarty, Creative Director of BBH; Andy Berlin, CEO of Redcell and John Hunt, Worldwide Creative Director of TBWA.
