This news comes in the same week that ‘Dick Terrapin’ was nominated for a Best Animation Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards taking place in November, in addition to being selected for national competition at the Cork Film Festival in October.
'Dick Terrapin' is a Vinegar Hill production, produced as part of the Frameworks short film scheme that aims to add to the range and scope of Irish animation. Frameworks is funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, RTE and the Arts Council.
The film was written and directed by Damien O’Connor and produced by David Rane. Narrated by actor David Wilmot (The Clinic, Intermission), ‘Dick Terrapin’ is a black comedy that tells the story of a pet terrapin who tries to get his owner to hate him. This is Damien’s third Frameworks film having previously directed the award-winning films ‘Mutt’ (1996) and ‘Le Dog’ (2003).
The AFI Festival also houses the American Film Market and runs from the 3 – 13 of November 2005 – for further info visit www.afi.com/
