Brendan Muldowney’s short film ‘The Ten Steps’ has won the Stella Artois Diversions Short Film Award 2005. The award was contested between 12 short-listed films screening at the Diversions Movies on the Square throughout the summer.
Starring Jill Harding, 'The Ten Steps' was written and directed by Brendan Muldowney, and produced by Conor Barry. It was funded by the Galway Film Centre / RTE / Irish Film Board. It tells the creepy story of a girl who is left to babysit in an old house...The filmmakers will receive €4000 prize money and support for the marketing and distribution of the film.
Previous recipients of the award include ‘The Terms’ by Johnny O'Reilly, the Oscar nominated ‘Give Up Yer Ol' Sins’ directed by Cathal Gaffney and 2004's winner ‘Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom’, directed by Daniel O'Hara.
This is the sixth award for ‘The Ten Steps’, and the short continues its film festival run with over 50 festival screenings across the globe. The short will screen across Ireland with the horror feature film ‘Wolf Creek’ from the 16th of September.
