Music legend and eight time Academy Award nominee Quincy Jones has signed to compose the original score for Jim Sheridan’s anticipated feature film ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ starring 50 Cent.

The gangster pic will be the first film score for Jones since Stephen Spielberg’s 1985 ‘The Colour Purple’. It is reported that Jones will collaborate on the ‘Get Rich…’ score with Irish composers Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer, both of whom worked with Sheridan on his features ‘In America’, ‘The Boxer’, and ‘In the Name of the Father’. Additional songs will be written and performed by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Quincy Jones has penned 33 film scores, including ‘In the Heat of the Night,’ ‘In Cold Blood’, and ‘The Italian Job’. He is the all-time most nominated Grammy artist, with a total of 76 nominations and 26 awards and is the producer of Michael Jacksons ‘Thriller’ album. Amongst others he has worked with Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra.

‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is written by Terrence Winter and is being produced by Jimmy Iovine, Paul Rosenberg, Chris Lighty and Jim Sheridan. Executive producers are MTV Films’ Van Toffler, David Gale, Heather Parry, Stuart Parr, Gene Kirkwood and Hells Kitchen producer Arthur Lappin. Paramount senior VP Wendy Japhet is overseeing for the studio.
