New Irish feature film ‘Breakfast On Pluto’ from acclaimed Irish director Neil Jordan has been selected for the Masters Premiere Program at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (September 8-17).

Set in the 1970s, ‘Breakfast on Pluto’ follows the exploits of Patrick Braden, played by Cillian Murphy in what the festival describes as “a tour-de-force performance”. Abandoned as a baby in his small Irish hometown and aware from a very early age that he is different, Patrick survives this harsh environment with the aid of his wit and charm, plus a sweet refusal to let anyone or anything change who he is. The film also stars other Irish actors Liam Neeson and Stephen Rea.
The Toronto festival is widely known as a launch pad for Oscar season with many previous Oscar winners like ‘American Beauty’ taking their first bow at the top Canadian festival.
Among the other high profile titles scheduled for premieres this year include Stephen Soderbergs ‘Bubble’, Roger Donaldson’s ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’, ‘North Country’ starring Best Actress winners Charlize Theron, Frances McDormand and Sissy Spacek, Shane Black’s Cannes favourite ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’ will have its North American Premiere and Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story’ starring Steve Coogan, Jeremy Northam and Stephen Fry also likely to cause a stir.
