A film from Irish visual artists Denis Connolloy and Anne Cleary is screening at the Kilkenny Arts Festival this week. ‘RVB’ is a layered, filmic work that follows ‘Ris’ a murder story, ‘Va’ a story about nature and ‘Ba’ a children’s story.
Filmed over 3 years, everything takes place in the artists’ building on Boulevard Barbčs in Paris. René & Claire are two shop owners, Véra & Igor - two birds from Japan and Bo & Lotti are the artists’ twin children.
The film delves into the enormous archive of the artists’ private lives where they have extracted and developed the themes of birth, life and death from personal documentary footage.
Anne Cleary was born in 1965 in Tullamore and Denis Connolly was born in 1965 in Dublin. They both live in Paris. ‘RVB’ is produced with support from the Départment de l‘Arte dans la Ville, and the Irish Cultural Centre,Paris and is currently screeninga the Desart House, New Street , Kilkenny 10am - 6pm daily (12 – 21 August)
