The 4th annual Stranger Than Fiction documentary festival and market has announced its dates for this year's event taking place in Dublin, Ireland from September 29th to October
2nd 2005.
Festival organisers promise a host a number of world
Premieres of new Irish documentaries as well as Irish premieres of
international hit titles. Key titles already secured include Fernando E.
Solanas’ ‘A Social Genocide / Memoria Del Saqueo’ (Argentina / France)
Tian Zhuangzhuang's ‘Delamu, The 3 Rooms of Melancholia,’ and the 2005 Oscar
Winning ‘Born into Brothels’. The festival will also feature a retrospective
and Master-class with Frederick Wiseman (Domestic Violence).
The Stranger Than Fiction Festival is both a public film festival and an industry
Market that is organized by Screen Producers Ireland and funded by the Irish
Film Board and Irish broadcasters RTE, TG4 and TV3. The Festival Market
is a vital element of Stranger Than Fiction, providing opportunities for Irish
producers to meet with commissioning editors from a number of key
international broadcasters.
In addition, an expanded range of seminars, retrospectives and sidebar
events are planned for this year's festival, including a series of
Master classes being given by world class documentary filmmakers.
The Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Festival is run by the Irish Film
Institute of Ireland which is the national body for film culture in
Ireland.
