Over the coming week Screen Training Ireland will be running a Format Creation for Television programming course with reality television specialist Des Monaghan, producer of ‘Popstars’ the reality television format which has sold to 43 territories worldwide.
Des Monaghan is the former Head of programming at TVNZ and Australia’s Seven Network. One of his first projects he developed at Seven was a soap opera to take on ‘Neighbours’ – this became the incredibly popular ‘Home and Away’. When Seven Network was taken over, Des left the station with ex-CEO Bob Campbell and set up Screentime which went on to produce the enormously successful ‘Popstars’.
The Format Creation for Television Programming course tutor line up also includes:
David Bodycombe - Formats Specialist whose credits include: ‘The Mole’, ‘Sub-zero’ and ‘The Crystal Maze’.
John Gough - Formats Specialist, Distraction Formats. John’s credits include: ‘Guess who is coming to Dinner’ and ‘In the dark with Julian Clary’. He is also a game show format consultant for Fuji Networks, Jonathan Goodson/ Warner Brothers, America 2, Globo TV, and RTP.
Jacob Houlind - Managing Director, Zodiak Television.
