Ward / Anderson Group’s 13-screen cinema Omniplex has opened in Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork, with a total investment of 10 million euro and the creation of 70 new jobs in the area.
Taking just over a year to build, the Omniplex has a total seat capacity of 2642. The facility boasts the latest in projection and digital sound technology, with gigantic wall-to-wall screens, and Dolby Digital sound in all screens.
Each cinema has stadium seating, extra large comfortable seats with leg room aplenty. The latest ticketing facilities have been installed, with 24 hour automatic telephone booking, and automatic box office machines making ticket purchasing easy and convenient. Tickets can also be booked on line at www.omniplex.ie/cork, and collected from the ticket collection points in the foyer.
The Omniplex is located on the first floor of Mahon Point Shopping Centre. Omniplex is one of the centre’s anchor tenants, with the others being Tesco and Debenham’s.
The centre itself opened 1st February, and houses over 50 retail outlets, three restaurants and six additional food outlets. Fashion outlets include many of the leading Irish, UK and European fashion names, and are joined by shops selling books, games and music and much more.
When the centre is fully completed in 2009, it will also include a retail park, hotel, leisure centre, high tech industrial park and offices.
