Diversions has issued a call for entries to the Stella Artois Short Film Award 2005, the winning entry will receive €4000 to support the marketing and distribution of the short film.
The award, which was set up in 2001, intends to recognise the importance of quality short films in Irish cinema by enabling Irish short filmmakers to further promote their work to Irish and international audiences.
The Stella Artois Short Film Award is open to Irish short filmmakers, both North and South of the country and shortlist of twelve films will be chosen from all entries received. One shortlisted film will be screened prior to each feature film Stella Artois Movies on the Square Diversions' which is the Saturday night outdoor movie programme commencing in June 2005.
Past recipients of the award include ‘The Terms’ by Johnny O'Reilly, ‘Give Up Yer Ol' Sins’ directed by Cathal Gaffney and last years' winner ‘Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom’, directed by Daniel O'Hara.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 31 March 2005. To enter films must have been completed between 1st January 2004 – 1st March 2005 and all submissions must be finished on film and available as a 35mm print.
