Irish director Kirsten Sheridan has been lined up to direct the fantasy musical ‘August Rush’ for Southpaw Entertainment.

Sheridan, she was Oscar-nominated for co-writing "In America” and has written ‘August Rush’ with Jim Hart (Contact, Hook, Sahara) and Nic Castle (Boy Who Could Fly).
‘August Rush’ is pitched as a modern day musical fantasy about a young boy who connects with his parents through a shared musical gift. Composer Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Last Samuri, SharkTale, The Lion King) has been brought in to write the score and music for the film which is due to begin production in the United States and Ireland in 2005. No cast has been confirmed at this time.
Ralph Kamp and Louise Goodsill's Odyssey Entertainment is to handle worldwide sales and distribution of the film.
