‘Full Circle’ Screens At International Festivals

The acclaimed short film ‘Full Circle,’ directed by Simon Fitzmaurice, has continued to impress international audiences and is due to screen at festivals in Europe and North and South America in the coming months.

The film began it’s run of success at the 2003 Cork Film Festival picking up The Jameson Award for Best Irish Short Film. Since then it has been screened at over 24 festivals worldwide and has featured at every major Irish Festivals. In addition, 'Full Circle' received Special Jury Prize and Best Actress Awards at The Cherbourg Irish & British Film Festival and The Orange and Kodak Award for Best Short Film at the Belfast Film Festival in 2004.

The film star’s Tara Lynne O’Neill (Eastenders, Disco Pigs). It is a simple affecting story of a young girl who works in a chip shop who is secretly in love with a security guard working across the road. It has been praised by movie fans and critics alike, “With this strikingly cinematic debut, Fitzmaurice has become a master of the short form” says Ciaran Carty of The Sunday Tribune.

Scheduled future screenings for ‘Full Circle’ include the Wine Country Film Festival in California, The Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, The Los Angeles International Short Film Festival) in Hollywood, The Drama Intl Short Film Festival, Greece, The Cork Film Festival, Ireland, The Festival de Alcala de Henares, Spain and the Stockholm Intl Film Festival, Sweden. In addition, it has just been announced today that audiences can catch the film at the The 2004 Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival, The 7th Annual Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, Delaware USA and the Terryglass Arts Festival, Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary.

This is an undeniably impressive performance for the 12 minute short. Speaking to IFTN director Simon Fitzmaurice stated he has worked hard over the past year to enable this worldwide exposure for the film over the past year. “A short film only has one year and I wanted it to reach as many people as possible, I really am delighted with the response,” says Simon who is currently working on his debut feature film and is negotiating a number of commercial and documentary projects.
