TV3 have announced the details of a new three-year deal for the broadcast of live GAA All-Ireland Championship matches.
The details of the new deal, launched today, show an increase in TV3’s overall share of live GAA Championship matches. Eleven live Championship matches will now be broadcast on TV3 including The Leinster Hurling Final, the Ulster Football Final and the Connacht Football Final. Two All Ireland Championship quarter Finals will also be broadcast on TV3.
The Independent Irish Broadcaster has been airing a selection All-Ireland Senior Football and Hurling Championship matches since 2008. TV3’s first live offering of the All-Ireland Championship will begin this Sunday June 5th when the Dublin v Laois in the Leinster Football Quarter Final will be aired on the station.
Pat Kiely, TV3’s Commercial Director commented on the new deal at the launch: “Over the last three years TV3 has brought a whole new dimension to Gaelic Games coverage and we were delighted when our efforts were rewarded with a higher level rights package this time round.”
All live Championship matches will continue to be hosted by Matt Cooper and commentary will be done by Mike Finnerty and Sean Walsh, with Paul Earley and Nicky English co-commentating.
