New Funding For Short Films on Temple Bar as TBCT Comp Launched

Creative interpretations of the ‘Made in Temple Bar’ brief are encouraged and Filmbase and TBCT will be seeking to fund filmmakers with an ability to make films that can engage audiences’ imaginations. Projects will be selected through an open competition with the deadline for all applications at 12 noon on Monday, May 30th.

Following this, the three chosen filmmakers will have five weeks to complete their shorts which will be posted online during Temple Bar Cultural Trust’s Made in Temple Bar festival in July. The prize for the three filmmakers will include €1,000 euro cash prize towards their budget from TBCT; a production package including equipment rental, edit suite hire, venue hire and insurance cover worth 1,000 euro from Filmbase and free Filmbase membership for the writer, director and producer of each project.

On selection, the three teams will have five weeks to complete their films (1 – 3 mins in length) which must be posted online by Friday, July 15th to coincide with the launch of the 'Made in Temple Bar' Festival. The filmmakers will be encouraged to market their films during the festival to see who can generate the most hits in that time. Applicants can be emerging or experienced filmmakers and students are welcome to apply.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Temple Bar’s regeneration as Dublin’s Cultural Quarter and the 25th anniversary for Filmbase as the largest resource centre for emerging filmmakers in Ireland. The ‘Made in Temple Bar’ festival will take place from July 15th – 24th and will look to celebrate all of the things that make Temple Bar special for Irish people and visitors to the area.
