Deadline Approaches for MEDIA Mundus Feedback | The Irish Film & Television Network

The online consultation is being conducted as part of a wider public consultation, responses to which will be taken into account in the Commission's proposal for a new MEDIA Mundus programme which will be adopted by the European Parliament and European Council, following an assessment of possible social, economic and environmental impacts.

As part of the programme, the EU will provide €15 million of funding from 2011-2013 for projects submitted by audiovisual professionals from Europe and from third countries that enhance the skills of audiovisual professionals from Europe and outside; improve access to international markets and strengthen the distribution and circulation of European audiovisual works in non-European markets and vice versa.

The aims of the new MEDIA Mundus programme will be to capitalise on this growing interest and the opportunities offered by global cooperation of the audiovisual industry and to increase consumer choice by bringing more culturally diverse products to European and international markets. It will also look to create new business opportunities for audiovisual professionals from Europe and around the globe.

The online consultation is open to individual citizens; public and private bodies; local/regional authorities; ministries and relevant stakeholders in the audiovisual sector, both inside and outside the EU. The European Commission launched the public consultation on the future EU MEDIA Programme on this website on March 7th.

This consultation, which is part of a wider consultation aimed at gathering views to be taken into account in the Commission's proposal for a new MEDIA Mundus Programme, will be open until 23 May. To read more and to give your feedback as to the new programme click here
