Post-production is currently underway on ‘Very Extremely Dangerous’, a new feature doc from Irish director Paul Duane (Barbaric Genius). Posting in Screenworks the documentary centres around former Sun Records rockabilly artist Jerry McGill - a 70 year old outlaw who is battling many demons including cancer.
Jerry McGill is a bankrobber and songwriter. ‘Very Extremely Dangerous’ follows McGill as he battles with cancer and his addictions to violence and prescription drugs. Director and producer of the feature doc, Paul Duane travelled to the Southern states of the USA in February with director of photography, John T Davis (The Boys of St Columb’s) to shoot follow-up imagery and interviews for his film which is currently being edited in Screenworks by Colm O’Brien (Barbaric Genius).
The feature doc is co-produced by Robert Gordon (Johnny Cash's America) and his company Media Ranch, and funded by the Irish Film Board. Producer Robert received the news that he'd won a Grammy for ‘Best Liner Notes’ during the period of the shoot. The bulk of the doc’s shoot took place between March and May 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama and Niceville, Florida. The pick-up shoot revisited all these locations in Feb 2011.
The project is due to be completed in mid-April. Following this it is to be submitted to major festivals and is to premiere in September of this year.
