‘Savage’ Available to Rent

Tweet Brendan Muldowney's debut feature, ‘Savage’ has just become available for rental on DVD in Ireland and the UK through High Fliers Films. The critically successful and IFTA winning film will become available to buy on DVD from March 14th. It has a rating of 18 in Ireland and 15 in the UK. Starring Darren Healy (Once) and Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent), ‘Savage’ tells the story of a news photographer who, following a vicious assault, drifts into derangement as he changes from a victim to a revenge obsessed aggressor. The film was directed by Brendan Muldowney (Innocence) and produced by Conor Barry (Ten Steps) for SP Films and was funded by the Irish Film Board. ‘Savage’ had its world premiere at the Galway Film Festival and was an official selection at the Darklight Film Festival. The film received critical acclaim following its theatrical release in 2010 with the Sunday Independent calling it ".... a bona fide must-see.", the Sunday Tribune dubbing it "Here's an Irish film with that rare thing: a touch of class." and the Sunday Times saying "Brendan Muldowney's bracing debut feature, Savage, confronts the ugliness of the rage within us." The film scooped an IFTA award in the Editing award for Mairead McIvor in 2010 and received five further nominations that year in the categories of Actor in a Lead Role Film for Darren Healy; Actress in a Supporting Role Film for Nora-Jane Noone; Director of Photography for Tom Comerford; Original Score for Stephen McKeon and Sound Paddy Hanlon, JohnFitzgerald and Fiadhnait McCann.
