Entries are now being accepted for the prestigious awards which honour coverage of developing worlds, including those of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The awards ceremony will be hosted by news broadcaster, Jon Snow on 10 May 2011.
Now in its 23rd year, the One World Media awards ceremony looks to highlight the unique role of journalists, filmmakers and broadcasters in bridging the divide between cultures and bringing the realities of the wider world home to the UK. The closing date for entries is Monday, February 7th.
Broadcast on BBC World News, the awards night is attended each year by key figures from the media industry, government, and development NGOs. The event’s 13 award categories cover all types of media, from television and radio to print and new media. 2011 sees a change in the Radio Award and Television Award categories, in that they are now open to any content about the developing world that is 30 minutes or less, including news reports and current affairs programmes. A new Student category has also been introduced for this year’s awards.
The closing date for entries is February 7th, 2011 and the award ceremony will take place in London at Kings Place on Tuesday, 10th May 2011. For details of entry requirements, eligibility, fees and application forms visit: http://www.oneworldmedia.org.uk/awards
